Summer is in the air here in Alabama. You can almost feel the wind in your hair as you cruise down the highway heading to that sunny coastal destination where you know you’re about to put work behind you, and an ocean view in front. With so many of our amazing banking customers traveling this summer, making sure you’ve got the means for a good vacation experience is important to us no matter where you go.

It’s one of the reasons we offer great services like having no fees at any bank’s ATM, and online banking with bill pay anywhere.

A lot of our customers enjoy being able to check in on their account from anywhere in the country, or even the world. It’s why we feel so good about our secure online banking experience.

All of your account information is at your fingertips and you can view your balance, transfer funds, make loan payments and more!

To sign up for Online Banking you must have at least one checking or savings account with Southern States Bank, and just click on Online Banking from the home page and go through a couple of simple steps.

Online Banking allows you to a lot of great features such as:

Account Summary: This page has an overview of all of your accounts with Southern States Bank. Click on an account number for more detail on each individual account.

Account Activity: Clicking on account activity will show the posting date, type of transaction, check number, description and amount of transaction for the most recent transactions on that account. You can download this information into MS Money, Quicken, or Excel.

Transfer Funds: This option allows you to transfer funds between various checking and savings accounts that you have with us.

Loan Payment: Make a loan payment to Southern States Bank from your checking or savings account.

Change Password: You can change the password on your Online Banking account. We require your password be between 8-16 characters and incorporate both letters and numbers. Passwords are case sensitive.

Telephone Banking: For your convenience, telephone banking is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – 1-855-999-7727

But just like being on any vacation, protecting you and your family is the most important thing. We make it our highest priority.

With any open or public wifi connection, there are risks for travelers connecting to a network at a place like at an airport or even a coffee shop. Here are some safety tips from the Better Business Bureau:

Never connect to an unfamiliar network, even if the name sounds legit. A hacker can change the name of a network to anything they want including the name of an honest connection offered by the airport or retail store. Just because the network is using the same WiFi name advertised, don’t believe it. Check with an employee first.

Make sure your computer is not set up to automatically connect to non-preferred networks. Your computer could automatically connect to a dangerous network without you even knowing and expose your computer.

Turn off “file sharing” while you are on the road so intruders cannot steal entire documents, files and unencrypted email from your computer.

So make sure you’re protecting you and your families While you’re watching the waves roll in on the beach, we’ll be watching all the things that matter to you here at home.

Go ahead, relax, we’ve got you covered!

All funds in a “noninterest-bearing transaction account” are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010, through December 31, 2012.
